Bowen Therapy

Bowen is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue therapy, it works by delivering signals to the nervous system at specific locations on muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments or nerves, working holistically engaging the body’s innate healing abilities. The practitioner delivers signals to the nervous system at specific locations on muscles, tendons, ligaments or nerves, working holistically engaging the body’s innate healing abilities. The treatment consists of sets of light, cross fibre moves that have rest periods of at least two minutes between them, allowing the body to integrate the treatment.

Bowen helps address patterns of dysfunctional muscle recruitment (usually developed over time) and posture, engaging the parasympathetic nervous system – it can reactivate healing from trauma, sickness, or surgery that has stopped or reached a plateau. It is also profoundly relaxing. Whilst Bowen has a reputation for helping with pain, research shows many more benefits, including Back pain and sciatica, digestive and bowel problems, earache and TMJ problems, migraines and other types of headaches, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, hip, knee, ankle and foot problems, neck and shoulder problems including frozen shoulder, groin pain, pelvic tilt and uneven leg length, respiratory problems and hayfever, RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome / tennis elbow as well as sports or trauma injuries
