Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that uses deep, sustained pressure to target the inner layers of muscles and connective tissues. It’s often used to relieve chronic pain, muscle tension, and injury-related stiffness, focusing on areas where adhesions (scar tissue) and knots have formed. This type of massage can help improve flexibility, reduce pain, and promote faster healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.

Benefits
Pain Relief: By breaking down adhesions and knots, deep tissue massage can alleviate chronic pain and muscle tension.
Increased Flexibility: It helps to release tight muscles and fascia, improving range of motion and flexibility.
Reduced Inflammation: Increased blood flow can help reduce inflammation and promote faster healing,
Improved Circulation: The deeper pressure can increase blood flow, helping to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the muscles and tissues.
Muscle Re-alignment: Deep tissue massage can help realign or “reset” deep layers of connective tissue and muscles.

This deeply relaxing and soothing treatment can also use smooth, flat, heated basalt stones which are held in the therapist’s hands and combined with massage strokes enabling a deeper massage as the muscles are warmed through the heat of the stones. Hot stone therapy aids in relaxing tense muscles, pain relief, general relaxation and de-stressing, improving circulation and promoting sleep. It is a great all-round treatment whether you are looking for a deep tissue massage to aid in a particular problem area or whether you are looking for a relaxing massage.

What to expect?
The treatment lasts 25 or 50minutes and as the client you can chose which areas you wish to be worked on during this time, this will be discussed with your therapist before the treatment. (For a full body relaxing treatment 90minutes is required)
The stones will warm and relax your muscles which can allow deeper pressure to be applied, if desired.
The stones will be used in combination with massage strokes as a seamless addition into your massage treatment to deeply relax and soothe the body. The stones may also be placed on your back, shoulders, held in your hands or placed in a foot wrap as a warming therapeutic supplement to a relaxing treatment.
